The 36-year-old missed the 3-0 series win in Pakistan in December after the birth of her daughter.

Broad joins James Anderson and Ollie Robinson in the pace attack in the day-night opener of the two-Test series on Thursday (01:00 GMT).

The match went ahead despite New Zealand declaring a state of emergency due to Cyclone Gabriel.

Mount Maunganui was not as badly hit as other parts of the country's north and the worst of the weather appeared to have passed by Tuesday morning.

Although both teams still had nets under cover on Tuesday, they were able to hold part of their training sessions in the outfield at the Bay Oval ground which has a reputation for quick drainage.

Wet weather is diminishing the chances of the Test, but England captain Ben Stokes said he was prepared to think unconventionally to force a result if time ran out.

"I'm sure we'll still hopefully come up with a way to force a result, no matter how long it takes," said all-rounder Stokes, who confirmed he's fit to bowl despite not doing so in the nets. Has attended England's warm-up matches in Hamilton so far this week or last week.

Jamieson, 28, who has just returned from seven months out with a back injury, has been sidelined for a long time with a stress fracture in his back.

Henry is out for the birth of his second child, meaning a call-up for uncapped duo Jacob Duffy and Scott Kugelein.

The Black Caps resisted recalling Trent Boult, who took 317 wickets in 78 Tests, but was released from his central contract last August to play in the franchise league and spend more time with his family.

The 33-year-old Boult has returned to New Zealand after playing an International League T20 in the United Arab Emirates and is staying close to the Bay Oval.

New Zealand coach Gary Stead said, "Ever since he left the contract, it was decided that we would prioritize the contracted players."

"We discussed it internally but our decision was not to go with Trent on this occasion."

Steed also said Kugelijn, 31, who was cleared of rape charges in 2017, had no "moral issues" with the call-up. He has since won 20 caps for New Zealand in the white-ball format, despite protests from fans at international games in 2019.

"I was given the players I could choose from and he was on the list," Stead said. "When you lose two key bowlers, you look around and ask who are the guys who can do for us internationally and he's one of the guys who can."

England pacers Anderson and Robinson have both expressed their distaste for the pink ball, with Robinson calling the day-night Test "gimmicky".

But opening batsman Ben Duckett said: "I've only faced them in the nets, so I'm not sure why they're not happy. It was tough out there.

"It's no different to any Test match, you have to play well against a good attack."

Duckett is set to play his first Test outside Asia after winning his previous seven caps in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.

He is part of the top seven who will be under pressure from Jonny Bairstow as he returns to fitness from a broken leg during the home summer.

"I take each game as it comes," Duckett said. "My biggest lesson is not to look too far ahead.

"I just want to enjoy myself and run. I don't want to think about what's going to happen in the future, just a few days."
